Osborne Beach, Isle of Wight

Osborne Beach has undergone a number of improvements by English Heritage including the restoration of the dilapidated 1950’s changing pavilion and the Queen’s Alcove, where Victoria would sit and look out to sea.

Throughout the works special efforts were made to conserve the vegetation surrounding the beach which features vegetated shingle of European ecological significance.

At the Isle of Wight Society’s Conservation/RIBA New Build Awards, Queen Victoria’s private beach received the prestigious Landscaping Award for this restoration.
