The Cumberland Place development of student accommodation in Southampton cost £14.5m to build, has a total area of 6,536m2 and comprises of 206 bed spaces together with student recreational facilities, student gym, ancillary accommodation.
The city centre infill site was previously an office building which was demolished to make way for the development. The site was extremely restricted in terms of access and required careful logistical planning and execution. As a consequence offsite manufacturing and modern methods of construction were employed which included the use of bathroom PODs, Bamtec reinforcement and precast concrete elements.
Goddard Consulting LLP were pleased to act as both Principal Designer Adviser and Client Adviser for this project.
